Is your Company embracing remote work?
Working remotely or telecommuting is the practice of fulfilling work in a workplace other than the location of the employer. Whether it be on a full or part time basis, remote work is on the rise and many businesses have begin to embrace the revolutionary model for a number of reasons. The benefits of remote work may include increased productivity, efficiency, employee morale and engagement, as well as decreased overhead costs for the business. As a current telecommuter and business owner, I can attest to the fact that working remotely provides significant benefits to our business and the other organizations that we have worked with. It provides us with the flexibility to travel and work around our busy schedules and obligations. Small businesses will find that it provide a significant edge over other businesses that are committed to retaining an expensive and potentially inefficient office space. In fact, many small businesses have completely left their own offices to go completely virtual. The most notable completely remotely staffed company in our industry is Buffer. In the graphic below Buffer asks, "Why make this distinction between what you call work and what you call life? Can't it all just be living?" Great food for thought!
